Why Do We Look the Way We Do
Time: One to two 50-minute class periods

Emphasize the importance of animal adaptations to species survival with this engaging activity. Students role play birds with different “beaks” (tools) trying to eat certain foods. This activity uses simple and readily available materials and simplifies students’ understanding of the process of adaptation over time.
