Source: Teacher Developed
Students create a science-focused travel brochure advertising features of McKinney Falls using descriptive and convincing language.
Procedures
1. Students select features they sketched in their journals on the Rockshelter Trail. Alternatively if students did not do sketches, digital photos from the hike can be used.
2. For each feature, identify the characteristic or species, using the Rockshelter Trail guide (Texas Parks and Wildlife, PWD BR P4505-090B (9/04). For additional information, you may wish students to conduct research using other field guides or the Internet.
3. Prepare a panel(s) for each feature including sketches and descriptions.
4. Create a panel to convince people they should visit McKinney Falls.
Technology Tip: There are several brochure templates available for computers. Microsoft Word has brochure templates. ComicLife is another excellent program for brochure making.
