The STATellite is the newsletter of our organization and serves to keep you informed about best practices in science. 


We are looking for articles to be published in the next STATellite and we need your help. It would be great for the science teachers of Texas to have you publish in the upcoming STATellite.

Knowledge never takes the summer off. Share yours with STAT in August's STATellite. Email your articles, teaching tips, favorite iPad apps or let us know about your summer science experiences in our most-read issue of the year! Email us at by August 1st.

Legislative Committee Reviews STAAR Results

House Committee Reviews STAAR Results

The Texas House Committee on Public Education took testimony yesterday to better understand the surprisingly low scores from this year's first iteration of the new STAAR test.  Recurring themes included questioning the 15 percent of final grade requirement and whether it is redundant to also have a teacher-prepared final exam.  Numerous parents questioned why the expensive testing program coincided with the state appropriations decrease.

Award recipients receive a variety of prizes and recognitions, including plaques, honorariums, and VIP tickets to CAST 2012 events.

Nominations and required materials must be received by Friday, June 15, 2012. Award recipients will be recognized at the CAST 2012 Opening Ceremonies. Please remember: only current STAT members may be nominated for awards.

CAST Proposal Deadline is May 7!

There is only ONE week left to submit your
CAST 2012 Proposals!
If you have questions about submitting, be sure to download our handy Sample Applications at the bottom of the proposals website so you can preview your proposal before submitting!

CAST Extra-Early Registration is Now Open!

For a limited time, we are offering registration for only $115 all three days of CAST. 

Registration will be open from May 1 - July 15.  We will temporarily close the site from July 15 - August 15 so it can be populated it with short courses, field trips, and optional events.
