STATFlash: 5-1-13 Legislative Update

STATFlash:
Wed, 05/01/2013

Good afternoon STAT members! I have often heard it said that government moves slowly. I tend to disagree, with the rapid changes that have taken place this legislative session; it doesn’t seem that way at all. I am learning so much! Please take a moment to give some feedback and I challenge you to make a phone call.

HB 5 is on the calendar for a second reading in the Senate at any time.  There is still time for amendments to be added before a final vote is taken.

Possible Senate amendments have not been posted, but STAT would like to have your feedback.  The attached floor amendment outlines 4 years of science for graduation-

1.    Biology

STATFlash: February 2013: Bylaws

STATFlash:
Wed, 02/27/2013

Dear Members,
The STAT Policy and Procedures Committee has worked over the last year to revise the STAT Bylaws. The Bylaws have been streamlined and simplified in order to be easily read and understood. Details that were duplicated in the Policies and Procedures Manual were removed. The current Bylaws are over 40 pages long. The new draft is much shorter and succinct at just over 4 pages. While no substantial changes were made to the way the organization is run, they do look different. View them here.

Two changes that should be noted:
